From left to right are Katherine Garcia, Jaqueline Davis, Kara Bromschwig and Anna Perlow of Long Island University as seen at the October 24th Molloy College show. These four riders finished on top of the Zone 2, Region 4 open rider standings (in this order: Davis, Bromschwig, Garcia, Perlow) and three of them came up very big at Zone 2 Zones on April 9th. Since their region took on the Zone 2, Region 4 name in 2005 no school from that region has fielded a full team at IHSA Nationals, at least not until now. LIU not only survived Zones they thrived, winning the show outright over host St. Lawrence by a 43-41 score. The Sharks will be the first team from that region since Fairfield University in 2003 (when this group was called Zone 3, Region 1) to compete for the National Championship. And oh yes it will be the first time in LIU program history (including when their campus was C.W. Post College, going back to the 1960's) that they will field a full team at Nationals.

On the Western side Albion College will be making their first-ever appearance with a full team at an IHSA Nationals event this weekend in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Albion and LIU will be the only schools making their first team appearances when the survivors of Semifinals and Zones converge on the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania May 5th through 8th. While Campus Equestrian will prepare a story about Nationals a week or so after the four-day event we encourage you to follow Nationals this week on the IHSA official web site, IHSAinc.com as well as their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. There should also be a live stream of the event linked from IHSAinc.com.
